How a Camera Inspection Works
Our inspection camera sits on the end of a flexible cable that feeds through your drain or sewer line, usually through an existing cleanout, so nothing needs to be dug up. As it moves, it sends a live picture to a screen, and a locator can pinpoint the camera’s position and depth from above ground.
That tells us what the problem is and exactly where it is. Cracks, root intrusion, heavy buildup, sagging sections, and separated joints all show up clearly. If a repair is needed, we know where to work and how much of the line is affected, which can keep the job smaller and the cost lower.
When a Video Drain Inspection Makes Sense
A camera inspection is most useful when a problem keeps coming back or doesn’t have an obvious cause. That includes drains that clog again soon after they’ve been cleared, gurgling or backups in several fixtures at once, and sewer odors in the yard or house. It’s also used to confirm a line is in good shape before hydro jetting.
It’s worth considering before you buy a home, too. Many older homes in the valley still have original clay or cast-iron sewer lines, and mature trees often send roots into them. A pre-purchase inspection shows you the condition of the line before closing, and the footage can support a repair request if something turns up.
